Why Shakespeare?
The slides for the week can be found here. We are beginning by focusing on Romeo and Juliet for the first two weeks before diving in to A Midsummer Night's Dream. Also over the next two weeks you will be perfecting a school display of your Sankofa project so we can have those exhibited for others to see, appreciate, and learn from. Today we are digging into the Romeo and Juliet Prologue to understand this piece of work before starting the film in the second half of class! I am so excited for you all to get to witness actors putting life into these words on a stage. Homework: Complete Journal #2 and 3 within the Shakespeare Journal assignment on Classroom Welcome Back!! I hope you all had some time to relax over spring break and are ready for our last quarter together! Now that we are here it seems that time has moved really quickly this year. Today marks the start of our third and final project of the year: Why Shakespeare?

Homework: Complete Journal #1 within the Shakespeare Journal assignment on Classroom Today is critique day on your rough drafts! Please bring your ideas and any project work you have with you to class today. You will be working in small groups for this critique and then have project work time for the remainder of class.
Homework: Final Project Due Friday 3/10 You should all have completed a conference with Cameron yesterday. If you were absent, make sure to reschedule with her today so you can get checked off to continue.
Today you are making a prototype or rough draft of your product. This could be an outline, a sketch, or a full draft. Monday these are due in order to critique them as a class. If there are materials you will need for your project, ensure Cameron knows so they can be here on Monday for you to use. At the end of the work period, you will complete a self-assessment on Classroom to reflect on your productivity. Homework: Last Marrow Thieves discussion today!! You should be finished with the book Due Today: Self-Assessment on project work time Due Monday: Finished rough draft or sketch of your final product Today you must come to class prepared to have individual conferences with Cameron about the direction you have chosen for you final project. This includes completing and submitting the Guided Research assignment on Classroom.
After meeting and getting feedback on your plan, begin working. These projects are due just over a week from today so lets make the minutes we have in class count!
